“Lay The Favorite” is a light-hearted movie about the sports gambling business. Bruce Willis (Die Hard) plays a goofy but loveable lead character Dink Heimowitz, who ran a sports betting enterprise, on a small level, and it creates some zaniness throught the film.
Catherine Zeta Jones (Chicago) plays Tulip, Dink’s wife and the triangle between the couple and Rebecca Hall (Beth), a stripper, makes for a very interesting and exciting storyline.
Hall is flat out brilliant in this movie. I found it amazing that this Anchor Bay movie had a stripper who was a “numbers” person. Almost to the point that she was a savant.
Joshua Jackson (Jeremy) and Laura Prepon (That 70’s show) have breakout performances of their own.
Corbin Bernsen plays Beth’s dad and he plays a very solid part as well.
This movie is light hearted, sexy, believable and a fun one to watch.
The Extra’s
There are some strong scenes that hit the cutting room floor. One of them has happened to every man while watching a sporting event with a significant other.
